Going digital can save both the headmaster and teacher time by organising everything in one place. Equally important, it can free up more time for individual guidance of students, improving their education.
The appointments in the calendar can be open and shared, so everybody has easy access to one another's time schedules. Online booking of resources, Stickies for short messages and using Today page for information, all saves a lot of running around to the office, the post shelves, the bulletin board....not to mention the savings on Xerox paper and post it notes.
By creating areas for teachers, they can share resources that can easily be copied into student's rooms. Test questions, documents and tasks by category can be stored for quick access by all teachers. There's no need to recreate it if it's already there.
With all the learning resources gathered in one place, teachers can decide when and how the students should have access to the documents, film clips, group discussions, tests, quizzes and can allow the students to work independently. There is no need to store results in ring binders and registers as they are all stored in each student's portfolio or Individual Learning Plan.
The time saved by teachers and head teachers can be put into identifying problem areas and channeling extra tuition into helping students overcome these.
