Asking questions is a great way to learn

    Learner might ask

    • I’ve forgotten my password and need a new one
Your school administrator can usually provide you with a new password. However, check the log in page first. Some schools have an automatic mail / sms service for new password.
    • Can anyone else see my work?
All work you submit in a hand-in folder or test, is between you and the teacher(s). If you have My documents enabled on your personal tool bar, that’s your private space. Not even your teacher has access to that.
    • Where can I find my homework?
If you have notification on your today page, tests and hand-ins can be accessed directly. Usually teachers place hand-in folders in your class room. Check the front page in your class room for more information.
    • I’ve lost my laptop, I don’t know what to do?
We cannot help you with that one. Fronter is software for use on a computer. If your school uses Fronter, they will have computers you can use in school. The good thing about Fronter is that you can log into Fronter from any computer. If there is another computer at home, you could use that until you find your laptop or get a new one. Remember to ask nicely.
    • My laptop is broken, will I lose my work?
Luckily, no. All the files that you have created and uploaded to Fronter are safe on our servers. Just log in from any computer with internet access and retrieve your work. This is probably a good reminder to remember to save your work in Fronter as a back up.
    • I don’t have internet, how do I hand in work?
You’re clever. To read this, you have found internet access. You can take your work on a memory stick and upload into Fronter from any computer with internet access. If all else fails, hand your papers to your teacher. Your teacher can hand in on your behalf.
    • Is it as cool as Facebook?
Yes! With Fronter, you have the possibility to add a personal page that can be customised like a homepage. In the class room, you can have folders for sharing images and links, forums for communicating with your class mates, making votes and sending personal messages. On top of that, you have all of your school stuff in Fronter.

    Principal might ask

    • Can you publish the great work a class has done on our school’s homepage?
With Webfronter, student’s work can be published outside of the platform. Webfronter can be used for making the school’s homepage.
    • Does Fronter save you time?
Yes. Teachers can make educational material available for students to access themselves, freeing more time for personal guidance. Fronter saves time by collating all tasks, results and evaluations in one place, sparing teachers the need to browse through ring binders and file cabinets for information.
    • How are you engaging with parents on Fronter?
The most common way is to enable the Parental log in. This is a way of creating parental users associated with the students, so that each parent can see their child’s portfolio, and even contribute to the Individual Learning Plan. In addition you can create parent’s rooms with communication forums and school information.

    Teachers might ask

    • I don’t understand Fronter, can you help?
Often, the best way is to ask a colleague, to learn from their experience. You can also check your local Fronter website. Different countries arrange a variety of courses, both on-line and face-to-face. Don’t underestimate your students as a source of knowledge about Fronter. Young people often have time on their hands to experiment.
    • How do I get a new log in?
      Ask your school administrator.
    • How do I create a room?
This is usually done automatically by import, but administrators can create more rooms manually. As soon as you have been granted the Owner / main teacher right in a room, you have complete access to customise it as you like: select tools, make front pages with smart links and limit or extend the access for different tasks and tools.

    Parents might ask

    • Where can I see my child’s work and grades?
If your school uses the Parental log in, you can access your child’s portfolio from the top menu. Different schools will use different systems for keeping records of results, and can make them available for parents through the Personal tools in the top menu. Ask your child's teacher which option your school has decided to use.
    • How secure is Fronter?
Very secure. Each user has a unique user name and password, and the school administrator has tools to keep the different roles and accesses separated. To contribute to the security: Create a good password (not your birth date or the dog’s name) and change it if you suspect someone else might have figured it out.
    • Can I see my child’s timetable?
With a parental log in, you can see it on your Today page via the child’s class room or the parent’s room. If you do not have parental log in, ask your child's teacher how they have chosen to share this information in Fronter.
    • How can I use Fronter to help my children with their homework?
Each class will usually have their own area in Fronter, a virtual classroom. This can be accessed from any computer with Internet access. In the classroom, teachers can provide all sorts of learning resources, as well as communicating how they might be used, and provide hand-in folders for digitally submitting the home work.
    • Can I use Fronter to contact my child’s teacher?
Most teachers use e-mail, but not all go through Fronter. If the school uses Parental log in, there are a variety of communication tools inside Fronter, such as forums for discussions or Personal messages for shorter notes.
